What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin porcelain shells that fit over the front surface of a tooth to conceal imperfections and restore the appearance of your smile.

Why Would I Need Veneers?

Porcelain veneers can conceal cosmetic problems like chips, cracks, and discoloration. Additionally, veneers can conceal minor misalignment or irregular spacing, including a gap between the upper front teeth (called a diastema). Even minor imperfections can be a source of low self-esteem in a world where your smile is often the first thing someone will notice about you.

Veneers aren't always the best solution. Fortunately, we offer many treatments in order to meet a variety of needs. Depending on the severity of your tooth damage, a dental implant, crown, bridge may be the better treatment. If you have yellowed or stained teeth, your dentist may recommend teeth whitening as the first step towards a brighter smile.

What a nice change from my old dentist. I have a fear of dentists so I’m not the easiest patient. Everyone was so comforting and the treatment was pain free and beautiful

A Dazzling Smile Can Help You Succeed

A study by Kelton Global for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry shows 73 percent of Americans are more likely to trust someone with a nice smile. Your professional and personal lives can both benefit from the confident smile porcelain veneers can provide.

How Do Veneers Look?

You may be worried that porcelain veneers will look bulky or unnatural, but that's simply not the case.  Our partner lab is a state-of-the-art facility with equipment that creates thin veneers indistinguishable from natural teeth. As part of the treatment process, we will remove enough enamel to keep your veneers from protruding.

Once your porcelain veneers are in place, their color can't be changed, so it's a good idea to consider teeth whitening options before getting your veneers if you'd like a brighter smile.

If you're not sure you want to invest in veneers, but you're curious about how the results would look, dental bonding is a more affordable and reversible option that can help you decide whether to move forward with porcelain veneers.

How Are Porcelain Veneers Attached?

During a preliminary exam at our Philadelphia, PA, office, you and the dentist can discuss the results you're trying to achieve. Your dentist will look at your teeth to see if dental veneers are the right choice for you.
During your second visit to the office, your dentist will reshape each tooth by removing some enamel to create room for the porcelain shell. Your dentist will numb the area before this process. If you are especially sensitive or anxious regarding dental work, we can discuss sedation options.
Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth and send it to a lab where your porcelain veneers will be made. This can take from two to four weeks. While the porcelain veneers are prepared, you will be given temporary veneers.
During your next visit to our Philadelphia office, your dentist will place the veneers on your teeth to see if they need any adjustments. Your dentist may trim them to achieve a proper fit.
Each tooth will be cleaned, polished, and etched to allow for a stronger bond between the tooth and the veneer.
Your dentist will then cement each veneer in place and position it properly.
Finally, your dentist will use a special light to quickly harden the cement and create a strong bond with the tooth. Your dentist will also remove excess cement and make any final adjustments to the placement of your veneers.
A follow-up dental appointment may be necessary so your dentist can check your gums and veneers.

How Do I Take Care of Dental Veneers?

With the proper upkeep, dental veneers can last 10 to 15 years. Aside from regular brushing, flossing, and dental exams, your veneers won't require any special tools or treatment.

However, there are a few things you should avoid:

  • Chewing on hard items like ice, fingernails, and pens
  • Clenching or grinding your teeth
  • Playing contact sports without a mouthguard
  • Consuming foods that can discolor your veneers or the bonding cement (such as coffee, tea, and wine)
  • Smoking

How Can I Pay for Veneers?

Since veneers are a type of cosmetic dentistry, insurance doesn't cover their cost. However, our Philadelphia, PA, office offers financing options to make the procedure more affordable.

Elegance In Dentistry is simple and their service culture is amazing. First time getting dental work done as an adult and when I called this office their employees were so welcoming and eager to help and provide solutions. Suzie is the people manager and she is a pleasure to work with, she answered all my questions with patience and kindness and they really helped soothe my stress over an agonizingly painful abscessed tooth. This dentist office is hands down the best I've had the pleasure of working with and as long as I live in Philadelphia I will be going there for all my dental needs. What you should take away from this review is that their customer service and resources turned a painful and frustrating experience into a simple solution.
