Dr. Franklyn Scott, a lettered athlete in both Basketball & Football, attended Claflin College in Orangeburg, South Carolina where he majored in chemistry and minored in biology. Dr. Scott was accepted into the Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. While at Howard University, Dr. Scott was President of both his junior and senior classes and on the Dean’s honor roll.

After attaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1979 he was accepted into the Howard University Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Program where he was later named Chief Resident. Dr. Scott has practiced Oral Surgery in the Philadelphia area since 1982, and became a Fellow of The American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a Charter Member of the National Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons in 1983. Dr. Scott has been President of the National Dental Association, President of the American Tennis Association, President of New Era Dental Society, President of The Philadelphia Tennis Club, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at McKinley Memorial Baptist Church. Dr. Scott has been a Professor in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Temple University College of Dentistry, as well as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Army. Dr. Scott has had a very successful Private Practice in Philadelphia for over 30 years where he mentored multiple young surgeons.

Dr. Scott has 3 children (Kimberly, Bryan & Brandon) & now with 6 grandchildren he is semiretired & travels nationally & internationally teaching, mentoring & playing tennis, winning 3National Championships & several local Championship in both Men’s & Mixed Doubles. He has also Sponsored “The Dr. Franklyn Scott Tennis Classic” in Philadelphia & South Jersey for more than 25 years supporting juniors in tennis!
